A regular feature profiling each of the 17 candidates for enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Name: Roger Wehrli

Position: Cornerback

Career:
1969-1982 St. Louis Cardinals

Pros:
Named to NFL's All-Decade Team of 1970s. All-Pro five times. Selected to seven Pro Bowls.

Cons:
When was the last time you heard Wehrli described as one of the truly great players? He's been eligible for almost 20 years and hasn't made it yet, so it's hard to believe he'll make it this time.

Verdict: Although one member of the selection committee, Paul Zimmerman, is on the record as favoring Wehrli's enshrinement, I can't see it.
He gets a vote of NO.

Previous votes:
NO: Richard Dent, Fred Dean, Ray Guy, Michael Irvin, Bob Kuechenberg, Art Monk, Andre Reed, Charlie Sanders, Gary Zimmerman
YES: Russ Grimm, Gene Hickerson, Bruce Matthews, Paul Tagliabue, Thurman Thomas
Note: By rule, the Hall of Fame must induct between three and six new members.
