UConn Just Keeps Repeating, "It's a Win."

Barely. Having to go to OT to beat Rutgers? There is not much positive spin on this one, other than finally snapping a 5 game losing streak to win 61-50.

UConn blew a nine point halftime lead that was carried to the 9:15 mark. Even with 50 seconds left and a 6 point lead, it wasn't enough to close out the game. The sheer failure to make free throws in the final couple minutes allowed Rutgers to continue getting shots.

Overtime was all UConn, as Rutgers was literally running out of bodies because of foul issues. Finally, in the OT, UConn made their free throws. That's about the only good thing that the Huskies can take away from their play -- that they finally made some free throws in the OT. In that 5 minute period UConn was 14-14 on free throws to out score the Scarlet Knights 14-3. Before that, UConn had been 10-21 at the FT line.

Otherwise, this was a bad game. Both teams shot under 35%. Rutgers falls to 2-8 while UConn "improves" to 3-6 in the Big East. I just heard Dave Revsine at ESPN refer to this as a "thriller" in a teaser. Uh, no.
