Note To Pacers Players: Don't Hang Out at Hick Saloons!

As my colleague Mutoni has already touched on, Pacers players Jamal Tinsley, Marquis Daniels, and Keith McLeod were involved in an altercation with a bar manager of the 8 Seconds Saloon. From the looks of the website, I can't really understand why players would be trying to hang out there in the first place. It doesn't look like the kind of place that NBA players would hang out. In fact I think this video sums up what type of place we're dealing with:

On another note, I think we need to hold off a bit before we judge these players. No charges have been filed yet, so we don't even know if there is any sort of merit to these accusations. It pains me to know that this is going to be near the top of the headlines on every sports news service. I think this "NBA players are thugs" routine that the media is selling to us is totally played. I know for a fact that all most, if not all NBA players hang out at late night spots. So to only have a few altercations per year is not really that big of a deal. Especially when you consider that NBA players are high profile individuals who are often times the target of testosterone gone wrong inside of some jealous fan. Why is it that the three or four off the court incidents that happen during the NBA season are played up the way they are, while the all the hours and money that all NBA players throw into charity and their communities isn't?

On another note, I guess this means that Stephen Jackson wasn't necessarily the catalyst for all of the Pacers off the court problems.
