If you don't believe in jinxes and that such, stop reading now.A while back, those handsome gents over at The Big Picture analyzed how five regional Sports Illustrated college hoops preview covers would affect those teams.
Through the midpoint of the season, it seems that the SI Cover Jinx only applies to two of the five cover teams. Wisconsin, Kansas and North Carolina are all having good years and will be eying top seeds next month.
But two other teams, Washington and Georgetown, have been bent over by the SI Cover Jinx.
Washington is 14-8 overall and just 4-7 in the Pac-10. The Dawgs have few good wins and will need to get real hot to be dancing in March. Meanwhile Georgetown, which started the season in the top-10, has won five straight to re-enter the polls at No. 23. But the Hoyas lost three of five early in the season including a double-digit defeat to Old Dominion.
Washington has sure got the worse of the Cover Jinx. Of course the team won't acknowledge this, but if you're a believer in jinxes, curses and the Easter Bunny, you can partially blame the Huskies disappointing season on SI for putting UW on the cover.
