I can't pretend this will be a recurring feature, or that I know anything about the Developmental League. But here are two NBDL-related items that grabbed my attention this past week. First, this NPR report on the economics of life in the minors. It focuses on former Weber State Wildcat Lance Allred, who in college outplayed Andrew Bogut and nearly led the country in rebounding. Now he kicks it with the Idaho Stampede, lives like a college student, and dreams of getting called up. The international option isn't given much pro or con attention, but all in all it's a fascinating listen. You also can't mess with the Eddie Robinson cameo at the end.
Also, on Wednesday True Hoop linked to D-Leaguer Rod Bension's Draft Express diary. It's kind of sad, kind of funny, and has some priceless fat girl moments. Don't envy these guys, but it's nice to not have to think of them as failures or martyrs.
