The top-4 actually changed, though not by much. Butler wasn't killed for losing, though, they did tumble. Six teams in the poll did not move from last week to this.

Everyone had 10 of the top-11 ranked somewhere. There was broad support for all but the final two teams. That was where the disagreements. Fanhouse voters this week: Ryan Ferguson, Nathan Fowler, Zach Landres-Schnur, Chas Rich, Michael David Smith and the Sportz Assassin.

The number in parenthesis after the name indicates the points given on all the ballots. The next number indicates the movement from the previous week's poll.
  1. Florida (95 points, 5 first place votes) -- -0-: They aren't going anywhere until they lose, and there's an increasing chance they won't until maybe March.
  2. UNC (88, 1 first place vote) -- +1: Sportz Assassin: "When focused, they can beat anyone. But they aren't always focused."
  3. Wisconsin (79) -- +2: That return game at Ohio State keeps looming bigger and bigger.
  4. Ohio State (75) -- -0-: They won this week, but they were less than impressive showings at home against Michigan and Purdue.

  5. UCLA (72) -- -3: More from Sportz Assassin: "Sure, they lost to West Virginia. Take a bunch of LA kids to West Virginia and see how they'd react!"
  6. Texas A&M (71) -- -0-: Ryan sees them like this: "In my heart, Texas A&M is the #5 if not the #4 team in the country. In my mind, I can't let them climb over Wisconsin... yet."
  7. Pitt (60) -- -0-: You'd think there'd be more support for a team that could beat the Mountaineers in Morgantown. It's hard to make real headway with the teams that are ahead, though.
  8. Kansas (58) -- -0-: Apply the comment to the #2 team here.

  9. Memphis (47) -- -0-: Keep winning, and stay here. Lose, and, well tumble. Such is the life of a mid-major.
  10. Washington State (29) -- +5: Zach is right, this is not a darkhorse any longer.
  11. Georgetown (27) -- +5: Again from Sportz Assassin: "The Hoyas did a number on Marquette and are looking like they are gelling at just the right time."
  12. Marquette (25) -- -1: Dominic James has been struggling, which means the Golden Eagles have been struggling.

  13. Nevada (25) -- +1: They've done a lot of winning, but they also have a lot of doubters.
  14. Butler (21) -- -4: Any other team losing to Wright State would be out of the Power Poll. They get cut a little slack because they earned it with a great non-con.
  15. Arizona (9) -- NR: Once more from Ryan: "Two road wins -- one over a Top 15 team -- get them in..."
  16. Southern Illinois (6) -- NR: Bracketbuster game to watch: SIU at Butler this Saturday.
Dropping out of the poll from last week: Oregon and Duke.

Four on the cusp:

  • Boston College -- What does BC have to do to get the power poll love? Beat Duke and UNC this week will guarantee shooting up the poll.
  • Kentucky -- They played Florida tough at Rupp Arena, but never once led. Close, but no brass ring.
  • Indiana -- They're good. Better than expected. Just not a consistent top-16 good.
  • Oregon -- How do you blow a ten point halftime lead at home?
