This year's draft isn't considered a great one for tight ends. In fact, some projections don't have a single tight end in the first round. But Miami's Greg Olsen just changed that.

With times of 4.47 seconds and 4.45 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the Indianapolis scouting combine today, Olsen has just established himself as the clear No. 1 tight end and moved firmly into the first round. Olsen's time is less than a tenth of a second slower than Vernon Davis's 4.38 last year, which had scouts drooling. Olsen won't be drafted in the Top 10, as Davis was last year, but he could go in the 15-20 range.

It's amazing what a great run of tight end prospects Miami has had in recent years: Kellen Winslow in the first round in 2004, Jeremy Shockey in the first round in 2002, Bubba Franks in the first round in 2000. Now Olsen will go in the first round in 2007.

Prior to the combine, Olsen and Arizona State's Zach Miller were considered the top two tight ends. But Miller ran in the 4.8 range today, ending any speculation about which one would be drafted first.
