So far the Eagles have made two ho-hum moves this off-season. First they set A.J. Feeley up to be Donovan McNabb's backup for the near future and today they went out and signed safety Quintin Mikell to a four year deal. The Inquirer's short article tries to make it out to seem like Mikell was "one of the team's free-agent priorities" because he is such an important special teams player. What the Eagles are trying to say is: he's cheap and can play a little.
"Quintin has been a really good football player for us," said Eagles general manager Tom Heckert. "He's a vital contributor for us on special teams and does a very solid job when he's on the field defensively. We're glad to keep him here in Philadelphia."
'Solid job' is not exactly a game changer. This is just another typical Eagles signing. Filling the roster with okay players who can keep you at a top tier level but not push you over the edge. Call me a skeptic, but with the news that Donte Stallworth likely won't be back, I'm not in love with the Eagles today.

Look for defensive end Juqua Thomas to be signed later this week. That will actually be a nice move to help bolster the questionable defense. Thomas showed a lot of promise this past season.
