If asked: "how long would a superfluous rumor between Reggie Miller and the Dallas Mavericks last?" And if your answer is anything other than "one day max", then you would be very very wrong. That's exactly why Donnie "son of Don" Nelson squashed the thought of having a 42 year old Miller joining the Mavs like the unwelcome bug that it is
"That's not happening," Nelson said. "Why not throw in Dr. J and Steve Kerr? It's pretty unfair to ask a guy to step out of the broadcast booth and compete against the best players in the world.
Unfair? Sure. But it's not un-entertaining as far as gimmicks are concerned and I'm pretty sure that's why Mark Cuban brought it up in the first place -- just to get people excited about Mavericks ball. Since the team has been annoyingly great this season, I'm guessing people have taken them for granted, and I believe this is just the thing that helps the team gain attention.

By the way, that's the only Reggie Miller slash Dallas Maverick picture I could find. Anyone else remotely interested to know the whereabouts of Jim Jackson? Just me?
