You hate to hear about this sort of thing: Shaun Livingston, whose picture I'm fairly certain can be found in the dictionary under the words "tantalizing, yet unfulfilled potential", could lose out on a large chunk of change.According to J.A. Adande of the LA Times, the horrific and season-ending knee injury that Livingston suffered on Monday night might cost him up to $40 million.
Surely the Clippers would have had to commit to Livingston. They'd already made a philosophical commitment to him when they kept him out of trade discussions that could have brought, say, Allen Iverson to the Clippers.Of course this is nothing more than speculation, but you have to seriously consider it. After all, the Clippers have a well-documented history of being cheap bastards with HEALTHY players, why would anyone expect them to change their policy when it comes to a guy who blew out his knee (and has been injury-plagued throughout his career?)
Now there's no way they can tie up big dollars in Livingston. This could wind up costing him upward of $40 million.
