This scary looking fellow trying to chew the life out of his mouthpiece -- most likely for the terrible crime of being pink -- is Tony Pashos, a 6-6, 320-lb. right tackle who had a breakout season with the Baltimore Ravens in 2006. The Jacksonville Jaguars hope he gets even better next season, which is why they signed him to a five-year contract yesterday. Terms weren't disclosed, but chances are Jacksonville could afford it.The Jags brought in Pashos, a four-year veteran and self-proclaimed "tough guy," to solidify their pass blocking and open up some extra space in their running game, which was doing pretty well with the space it had. The primary goal here is to help quarterback Byron Leftwich stay upright. Jacksonville gave up 30 sacks last season, and Leftwich has a reputation for being injury-prone. Anything that keeps the young QB in the lineup is a good thing for the Jags.
In other news, the Jags also signed kicker Josh Scobee to a five-year deal. Scobee was second in the league in touchbacks and made 14 of 19 field goals of 40 yards or more.
