Giants LF Barry Bonds has missed two straight games for the Giants since going 0-2 in his first game of spring training against the Mariners on Friday. Bonds is sick with the same flu that has affected most of the Giants team recently. According to Fox Sports Radio broadcaster Sean Farnham, Giants play-by-play man Dave Flemming (who got robbed by a busted microphone trying to call Barry Bonds' HR #715) told him it was Lance Niekro who got the team sick, probably by fanning too much at the plate.
Not sure if Bonds' absensce has anything to do with it, but Saturday's win over the Brewers attracted just over 6,000 fans. And according to San Francisco Chronicle Giants blog The Splash, the crowd remaining by the 9th inning was putrid. For whatever it's worth, the Giants are 3-1 in Cactus League play.
