One of the major talking points about the hard foul on Tyler Hansbrough at the end of the UNC-Duke game is the fact that Hansbrough was on the court with less than :15 left.....when the foul occured. Some facts:
- Mike Copeland was waiting at the scorers table to come in for Hansbrough.
- Hansbrough couldn't come out because he was shooting free throws.
- He missed the free throw....meaning Copeland couldn't come in for him.
- When the foul occured, Duke had starters Jon Scheyer, DeMarcus Nelson and sixth man Gerald Henderson on the floor.
- Another Duke starter, Greg Paulus, fouled out of the game with :19 left in the game.
- Another Duke starter, Josh McRoberts, fouled out of the game with :18 left in the game.
- McRoberts was the one who fouled Hansbrough....putting him on the line for the free throws that he would miss, rebound, and ultimately be fouled on.
- Hansbrough was still in the game because just before, Roy Williams briefly inserted seniors Wes Miller and Reyshawn Terry...only to take them out of the game at the next timeout so they could receive their career final ovation from the Dean Smith Center.
- Roy Williams didn't take Hansbrough out then because his ovation [he scored 26 pts and grabbed 17 boards] would've taken away from the senior's deserved moment.
- Coach K was calling timeouts after made baskets with :50 left......and down by 13 points.
