Did Georgia Fans Drive Quincy Carter into the Arms of Mary Jane?
That last statement is what really jumped out at me. Now, I'm not a Georgia fan, but I do know that Carter's "reality" at UGA was that he was hated by a large chunk of the Bulldog fan base. In fact, I can't think of another starting quarterback in the SEC who was ever so roundly despised by his supporters. Even in 2000, after leading his team to a 21-10 win over Tennessee, a win that prompted the goalposts to come down for the first time in many years at Sanford Stadium, I constantly heard Georgia fans saying "I still hate Quincy Carter."
So while it's no shock that Carter was toking up in Athens all those years ago, it is interesting to think might have been doing it to escape the criticism of his own fans.
