According to ESPN the Jets have acquired Thomas Jones and a 2007 second round draft pick from the Chicago Bears in exchange for one of their 2007 second round (37th overall) draft picks. Jones had asked for a trade a little over a week ago and now he's been given his wish. He'll head to New York (pending a new contract) and assume the starting role for Gang Green with Leon Washington serving as his "change-of-pace" back.Jones seemed to get frustrated in Chicago this year as he began to lose more and more carried to Cedric Benson, eventually prompting the trade request. He'll get no shortage of carried in New York; the 1,210 yard back should see 25-30 carries a game hands down.
It's amazing that the Bears would swap picks and give up a starting running back for very little in return. The Jets really ran away with this trade. What a move by New York.
