White Sox closer Bobby Jenks has recovered from early tightness in his shoulder, and now he's looking to do his part to help an eigth grader recover from his bout with cancer.

Jenks will be shaving his head for the St. Baldricks Foundation's annual fund raiser to battle children's cancer. Jenks will not be alone in the act, as he will be joined by an entire 8th grade class from Most Holy Redeemer in Evergreen Park, Illinois.

Michael Heely is a member of that 8th grade class, and he's battling bone cancer. Jenks has talked to Heely, and his entire classroom via telephone, and he was touched by Heely's story, and the love his classmates are showing him.

"That's pretty nice, isn't it?" Jenks said. "That's good friends right there. [Michael's] a great kid. Hearing that sort of thing, it's really nice to be able to be part of something like that. It's a great feeling when you hear the excitement in their voices."

Jenks has been involved with St. Baldricks since Christmas, and the organization has raised over $20 million and shaved 26,000 heads to help out. You know, it's nice to hear a story like this once in a while amidst all the steroids scandals, and players who want contract extensions.
