No More McDonald's Means Miguel Cabrera Can Bend Over

I remember being really upset when Miguel Cabrera gave a half-hearted effort at a ground ball during last season's All Star game which prolonged the inning and preceded Michael Young's game winning three run triple which gave the American League the victory and home field advantage at the World Series (not that it wound up doing them any good). Well, now I understand that it wasn't so much that Miggy wasn't trying ... he might have actually had trouble bending over. Why?

Would you believe, Chicken McNuggets?
Last March, Cabrera looked overweight while participating in the World Baseball Classic, where he had trouble bending over to field ground balls.

Cabrera said he concentrated this winter on a weight-lifting regiment and he has all but eliminated trips to McDonald's and other favorite fast-food joints.

"I watch what I eat," he said. "I think that's the difference."

He blamed his appearance last March on the lack of time for proper conditioning and weight lifting during the WBC.

"You don't lift or run over there. I think that was a difference,"

Which begs the question: How many Big Macs must a professional athlete eat before he has trouble bending over? I mean, for an average joe like myself the number would be, oh I don't know, one? So how much fast food was Cabrera putting away at a clip that a man once in peak physical condition would have trouble bending for a grounder ... which rhymes with Quarter Pounder. You know, I'm hungry all of a sudden.
