The Texas Rangers and Chicago White Sox hate each other. It's pretty odd for two teams from separate divisions to have such a rivalry, especially if they've never met in postseason play, but it exists between these teams.
I don't normally make it a point to watch a spring training game, but today I may just have to make the exception. Buck Showalter is no longer managing the Rangers, so the feud he had with Ozzie Guillen won't be present, but another instigator will be.
Vicente Padilla caused a lot of trouble between the two teams last season when he "accidentally" drilled A.J. Pierzynski twice in the same game (Padilla "accidentally" hit 17 batters last season). Well, Padilla will be making the start for the Rangers today, and I doubt he's had a change of heart when it comes to the Pale Hose.
For his part, A.J. Pierzynski isn't expecting Padilla to do anything, but you can never be sure.
"Not as far as I'm concerned, but you would have to ask him that. As far as I'm concerned, I don't have anything. I guess we'll find out [Tuesday]. Whatever."
Personally, I'm hoping it does happen. One of the things I enjoy about baseball are the brawls that happen. Sure, these games don't mean anything, but they will in the regular season so teams should want to get some practice in. Especially since MLB won't be handing out any long suspensions from a spring training dust up, so get your licks in while you can.
