Gold Star: Eric Maynor: VCU's point guard put his team on his back down the stretch and toppled (once) mighty Duke. I love that they played with absolutely no respect for Duke. I half expected this thing to break down into an "Arch Rivals" type battle, with Maynor playing the role of Mohawk, punching Paulus in the face again and again, like he was Lewis. I feel like it's slightly overstating to call that one of best ever performances of the opening two days of the tournament, but it was certainly the most memorable thing from today.

Silver Star: Stephen Curry: What's it say about yesterday that the second guy on this list played for a losing team? Not a ton, I guess. But Curry was a magnetic presence in the Maryland/Davidson game. You couldn't help but like him. He shot the ball with no fear, he took it to the rim, he scored with ease against Maryland, and I don't know if you know this, but he's Dell Curry's son. Yep. Fruit of his loins.

Bronze: Whoever Was Responsible for Stanford Getting In:: I'm serious. I spent roughly 60% of my day making jokes at the expense of Stanford and the Pac-10, and had this spot gone to someone like Syracuse or Drexel, I'm not sure that would have been possible. The committee should do this every year ... just hand a spot to one completely undeserving team and let them get pasted so everyone has something to bitch about when the games get boring.
