One of the gags in the movie Dodgeball is that dodgeball is such a low-profile sport that it's televised by ESPN8 ("The Ocho"). But if ESPN can find room on its schedule for rock paper scissors, as the Miami Herald reports, dodgeball can't be far behind. Yes, there's actually something called the USA Rock Paper Scissors League, and it's actually reached an agreement with ESPN to show its championships on television.
As With Leather points out, there are two keys to the success of the RPS League: One is that they've gotten a sponsorship agreement with Bud Light, and the other is that they've got something called the RPS Girls. ESPN seems to be calculating that if you mix in beer and women, you can get the network's target demographic to watch paint dry.
