Tonight the Wizards travel to Portland, and while Washington is just trying to keep winning with Caron Butler sidelined, Gilbert Arenas is sticking to his thoughts of revenge on the Blazers.
Gilbert predicted 50 the last time the two teams met, and although we couldn't follow his advice and watch it on television, trust me when I tell you that it ended badly for the Wizards. This time, Gilbert plans to attempt a lot more shots in his quest for 50:
"I know coach is going to get mad for me saying this, but if I don't score 50, damn it, there's going to be a lot of shots to get to 50. You know, last time I shot 15 shots."
I love the entertainment value that Gilbert is providing with these quotes, but even though the Blazers allowed Kobe to torch them for 65 the other night, I just don't see Gilbert getting his way tonight. NBA players are prideful if nothing else, and there's no way they're going to get called out like that and not respond. Thankfully, Gilbert seems ready to defer to his teammates if things aren't going his way early:
If I'm on fire, I'm on fire. If I'm not, just like last time, I'm not going to force anything.
Hopefully for the Wizards, it won't be exactly like last time.
