As expected, Randy Johnson will start the season on the DL. The East Valley Tribune reportsD-Backs general manager Josh Byrnes confirmed that Johnson will still open the season on the disabled list, a fate that appeared unavoidable from the start of camp. The news comes after Johnson threw his second batting practice session of the spring on Monday. The Arizona Republic notes that the Unit's injury will be back-dated, meaning Johnson could miss only the first week to 10 days of the season.

Johnson expects to make his first start of the spring next week, although a schedule has not been determined. It could be in a regular game, a "B" game or an intrasquad game.
I guess the important thing for the D-Backs is to make sure they don't rush the Unit back, and to make sure they don't fall too far behind in the standings without him.
