The most recent blog entry from Gilbert Arenas is an absolute must-read for any NBA fan, and not because it contains more bold predictions or wacky antics from the league's loosest locker room. In fact, it's just the opposite. Gilbert took the time to get serious with this one, going into detail about the reasoning behind some of what he does, as well as his thoughts on how people perceive his team's so-called antics.
It's a longer read for sure (some say 18 minutes!) and covers a few different topics, but the general idea is this: people in all walks of life make "predictions," and all that happens is that it helps them to focus on what they're trying to achieve. Not to play editor with Gilbert's words, but I think if you mentally substitute the word "goal" for "prediction" while reading that portion of the piece, I think you'll see more clearly what Gilbert is trying to say. And it makes a lot of sense.
There are plenty more interesting thoughts, including a story about how Gilbert was annoyed with Deshawn Stevenson for listening to his agent regarding not doing his "hand in front of the face" thing after made baskets. The agent told him it would be bad for his image, but Gilbert had a clever response that again, made a lot of sense.
So go read Gilbert's blog (like, immediately) for arguably some of the most honest commentary you will ever hear from a professional athlete. It will be the best 18 minutes you spend all day.
