It would appear that the Vikings might win a game of chicken with the Texans.Minnesota has been rumored to be interested in Texans quarterback David Carr, but the two teams had not gotten a deal worked out, as rumors had the Texans hoping to land an early second-day pick for their former starting quarterback.
If the Vikings are interested, they now should have a chance to land Carr as a free agent. The Texans know that by trading for Falcons quarterback Matt Schaub, any chance of getting a team to give up much of anything for Carr has gone out the window. They will likely cut the former No. 1 pick in the near future, and Adam Schefter with NFL.com is already talking about the Vikes as a likely landing place for Carr, who is still young enough to develop into a solid NFL starter, especially if his new team can keep him upright--he played behind some brutal offensive lines in Houston.
It's not that Carr isn't without flaws--Google's search box in Firefox suggests "David Carr sucks" if you start to search for his name. But he would give the Vikings a better chance to win in 2007 than Tavaris Jackson or Brooks Bollinger can, and he may come cheap, which sounds like a good combo.
