ESPN on Joe Theismann: 'We Have Nothing to Announce'

So is Joe Theismann off ESPN's Monday Night Football broadcast? I posed the question to ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz via e-mail, and this was all he had to say in his reply: "Thanks for checking. We have Nothing to announce."

That doesn't really answer the question, but presumably, if Theismann were leaving the broadcast, ESPN would have an announcement to that effect. So is he staying? The reports that he was leaving came from Pro Football Talk, aided by a story in the Detroit News saying Tigers pitcher Nate Robertson (of all people) was told that ESPN had offered Bill Parcells a spot in the Monday Night booth.

The story was picked up here at FanHouse as well as at Deadspin. ESPN tends to be tight-lipped about personnel issues, so we're probably not going to hear much more about this until ESPN decides it does have something to announce. It wouldn't exactly be unprecedented for ESPN to change its mind about who its commentators are (remember when the Monday Night team was supposed to be Theismann and Al Michaels?), so consider this a developing situation.

In the picture, Theismann is watching a basketball game with Grizz, the Memphis Grizzlies' mascot. He looks like he and Grizz have better chemistry than he had with Tony Kornheiser.
