Just about everyone agrees that the Oakland Raiders will make LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell the first pick in the draft, but Peter King of SI.com says not so fast: I think you should not count Brady Quinn out of silver and black. Remember where you heard that first....I think no one at these meetings really knows what the Raiders will do with the top pick a month from now. Including them.
Although Mel Kiper states emphatically, "Quinn's not going to go to Oakland, Russell will," I think King is right that there's still a chance that the Raiders will take Quinn. It's always just about impossible to figure out who's running things in Oakland. Al Davis seems to be less of a hands-on owner than he used to be, but who would make the final decision if new coach Lane Kiffin disagrees with personnel man Michael Lombardi?
Ultimately, I think Russell probably goes first to the Raiders. But at this time last year, I thought Reggie Bush was going first to the Texans. Until the Raiders make their pick, we won't know for sure.
