UNC Mascot Jason Ray Dies From Injuries in SUV Accident

In a time where UNC fans are mourning the loss of their team to Georgetown yesterday, tragedy really struck. Word is that Jason Ray, one of the UNC students who wears the Rameses mascot uniform, has died this morning. He was struck by an SUV while walking along the shoulder of a road outside his hotel last Friday afternoon. He was 21 years old.

Ray was walking to a convenience story to pick up a snack a few hours before UNC's Sweet 16 game with USC in East Rutherford, NJ when he was struck by an SUV. The driver of the car tried to help Ray and called 911. So far, no charges have been filed in the accident.

UPDATE: The NCAA is looking to do something during the Final Four this weekend to honor the memory of Jason Ray. It hasn't been decided yet, but keep checking here for more info.
