Ben Sheets Is Healthy and That Scares Everyone

Ben Sheets is the one guy that fantasy baseball owners have grown to hate more than the best player on their most hated rival over the past two years. He's got amazing stuff and strikes out a ton of batters, but he's only pitched 260 or so innings over the past two years. That's incredibly frustrating both for Brewers fans and the guys that keep drafting him in the early rounds of fantasy drafts every year (can you tell I'm talking about myself yet?), only to watch him spend a good part of the year on the DL. But guess what, guys! Ben Sheets is healthy this year!

Told that Yost wanted to make sure he was healthy before officially tabbing him for opening day, Sheets said, "I don't blame him for wanting to see it. I know I'm healthy. That's what really makes me feel good.

"The results might not have always shown it (6.08 ERA in four spring starts), but I do feel healthy. You don't have to feel great down here, but I do feel great."

Which has been no secret in the Brewers' camp. Sheets is one of those players whose body language is easy to read, and he's had a definite hop in his step this spring.

The Brewers need Sheets to be healthy because when he is healthy there's only a handful of guys in baseball better than him (I'm not kidding, check the numbers). Simply put, he's the type of pitcher than can be the difference between a good team and a great team. Still, I think actually seeing him actually go out and make some good starts when the season starts will be a hell of a lot more convincing than readying that he's got a hop in his step and listening to him talk about how healthy he is, though I suppose it's a better start than nothing.
