Over the course of his 16-year career in the NHL, Tie Domi racked up 3,515 penalty minutes, good enough for third all-time. Never one to shy away from the rough stuff, Domi fought just about anyone who came his way, including an unruly Flyer fan who had the misfortune of finding himself on the wrong side of the penalty box glass from Domi after the glass gave way during a game back in 2001.Though he's retired now, it seems that Tie Domi is every bit as intimidating as he ever was, as he made clear at his 11-year-old son's peewee game last night.
"He was like a beast or a caged animal," said one parent in reference to Domi's profanity-laden tirade directed at his son Max's peewee coach for a perceived lack of playing time for the younger Domi.
According to witnesses, Domi confronted coach Lucas Miller outside his team's locker room after the game (a 2-0 loss) and started dropping f-bombs like they were going out of style (they're not, by the way -- I checked).
Toronto's finest were called to the scene and everything broke up without any arrests made or charges filed. Ironically, Max Domi should not have even been allowed to play in the game at all, according to the coach's wife, because he had forgotten his hockey gloves -- equipment his old man seldom kept on for long stretches during his playing days.
