New Seven Year Contract Keeps Datsyuk in Detroit

A few days back, Brett Hull made a point of saying on NBC's broadcast of a Red Wing-Blue Jackets game that he didn't think there was a chance that Pavel Datsyuk would re-sign with the Detroit Red Wings due to a poor relationship with Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock.

Well, I'm not sure who Hull is talking to, but Datsyuk cleared things up pretty well today when he signed a new seven-year contract to stay in Detroit. Monetary terms were not disclosed.

I guess this will stop the talk about Datsyuk heading to Washington to play with his best friend, Alex Ovechkin. If anything, today's announcement pretty much proves that you ought to have better things to do with your life outside of spreading rumors on where unrestricted free agent might wind up.
