Forget Smush Parker, The Lakers Should Start Jordan Farmar

With Smush Parker again coming out flaccid and despondent in Friday's game against the Seattle Sonics (the Lakers radio announcers actually used the word despondent to describe Smush), Lakers head coach decided to give much of the second half point guard minutes to rookie Jordan Famar. Although Farmar didn't fill up the stat sheet (only compiling 3 points on 1-2 shooting in 14 minutes), the team flowed so much better when he was on the floor. Farmar plays with poise and confidence that Smush Parker frankly doesn't have. I feel like PJ is hesitant to start Farmar because of his rookie status. But isn't this the same coach that started faux rookie Smush Parker last year? Farmar's offensive skills haven't become consistent yet, but he does provide great energy and effort on defense (which is something the Lakers desperately need). Smush NEVER provides energy or effort on that side of the ball.

I've known Jordan Famar since I was six years old. There's no doubt in my mind if given the opportunity, he could easily do a much better job at playing the point guard position than Smush Parker. I mean, even the assistant coaches say that Jordan works his butt off and always has a positive attitude. Even if he comes out there and makes rookie mistakes, he can't be worse than Smush. And don't they plan on making Farmar their point guard of the future anyway? Let's be real, the odds of the Lakers winning the championship this year are slim, so they might as well let their PG of the future get out there and cut his teeth. It's pointless to let Smush, a guy that likely won't be a team next year, continue to take all of the minutes and bring this team down. So Phil, if you're listening: START JORDAN FARMAR!
