Report: Bonzi Wells' Season Is Done

The strange Bonzi Wells saga seems to have to come to an end. After failing to show up for a game in Seattle on Monday night, a source close to the organization is reporting that the Rockets have decided that Wells will not suit up again for the remainder of the regular season and will not be activated for the playoffs.
"He felt he was hurting the team," Agent Bill Duffy said. "He did not want to be a distraction with his play. It was not his actions. He was frustrated with his play and did not want to hurt the team. His methodology was wrong, but that's what he was trying to do."
Bonzi - who I'll always respect for the way he played during the infamous 2000 Western Conference Finals - has always been a head case. In Memphis, the Grizzlies dropped him from their active roster DURING the 2005 playoffs, and his troubles when he played for the Blazers are well documented.

Bonzi Wells will be fined for the "unexcused absence" but he will not be suspended or released.
