After his coach decided that he should be playing less minutes, Kevin Garnett did him one better: He's not going to be playing at all. Take that, Randy Wittman!According to GM Kevin McHale, KG has been playing through a painful quad injury for months, and the organization has decided that it's best he shut it down for two of the final five games. He's going to seek a second opinion before deciding whether or not to return this year.
"After talking with Mac and our medical staff, I realized that it's in my best interest to put my body first," Garnett said in a statement issued by the team. "I need to take this matter more seriously than I have been. I want to make sure that I correct this for the future, so that it is not an ongoing problem."Last season, with the team eliminated from playoff contention, Garnett sat out the final six games of the regular season. Naturally, with tank talk all the rage these days, team owner Glen Taylor was quick to point out that he did not ask for KG to be shelved so that the team improves its chances in the draft lottery. Sure, Glen. Whatever you say.
