The suspensions this week of Pacman Jones and Chris Henry weren't the end of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's efforts to clean up his league's image. Next stop: Tank Johnson.Johnson, the Bears' defensive tackle, is currently in Cook County Jail after violating his probation by getting busted with a big stash of weapons. So how long will Goodell suspend Johnson?
The Chicago Tribune speculated that it will be "a sterner penalty ... than the four games commonly expected." I'm guessing Johnson will get somewhere along the lines of a six-game suspension.
But that does provide an interesting glimpse of how our system of criminal justice treats these offenses differently than the NFL does. If you judge these players by how much jail time they served, Johnson is the worst and Jones is the best. But Johnson will (probably) get the shortest NFL suspension and Jones the longest.
