For the first time ever, Bengie Molina and Yadier Molina (pictured), two of three brothers who are all catchers in the Major Leagues, played against each other at the highest level. Representing the Giants was Bengie, who was signed by San Francisco in the offseason. Yadier was representing the Cardinals and is coming off a World Series win in '06. (Jose is a backup catcher with the Angels). The reunion on Wednesday night was described as the brothers sharing a warm embrace behind the batting cages. Bengie said it was an emotional moment. Want to know why? Because it had been a long time since the two saw each other:Bengie hadn't seen Yadier since Yadier broke into the majors in 2004. As Bengie explained, he spends his offseasons in Arizona and Yadier goes to Puerto Rico.Dude, that's like three years. You haven't seen your blood brother in three years, and you're both Major League catchers? What's the excuse? Where I come from that's called dysfunctional -- but who am I to judge. After all, their family has two World Series rings, I clearly have none.
That's still pretty cool, three brothers all in the Major Leagues. They're apparently the 19th family that can make such a claim.
