The Pistons are the overwhelming favorite in this series, and for much of Game 1 the Magic played the role of the underdog to perfection. But then something happened: Detroit's lead, which stretched to as many as 16 points early in the fourth quarter, started to dwindle. On the heels of a 13-2 run, the Magic started to make the game interesting, cutting the deficit to as little as three points in the final minutes. Of course, in the end Detroit pulled it out, but it was hardly the slam dunk it looked like it'd be for much of the game. And when you consider the fact that Orlando missed 18 free throws and turned the ball over 20 times, should Detroit be concerned heading into Game 2?
It depends on your point of view. Those in Orlando will probably point to the fact that the Magic shot a whooping 58% from the field as proof that Detroit can't handle Dwight Howard (or anyone, really) in the paint. Fans in Detroit, though, are probably confident that after a brief fourth-quarter lapse the Pistons will be more determined than ever to keep their foot on the gas the entire game.
