Carlos Delgado Goes All Terrell Owens on Us
But as far as I'm concerned, Carlos Delgado stole the show. During the game, Carlos Delgado hit his first home run of the season. After the game, in fact immediately after the game ended, Carlos paid it forward by pulling a T.O. and taking the baseball that he had just caught for the final out and signing it for a fan right by the Mets dugout.
Now I happened to like the T.O. thing ... I don't mind nutso celebrations as long as they're fun. But the one thing that Owens could have improved on was to sign the ball for a fan instead of his financial advisor. Delgado did one better, and signed the ball for a regular joe in the stands. (Some may say that Delgado did T.O. another one better simply by not being T.O., but that's just some people's opinion.) Whereas Owens' celebration came off among some as selfish premeditated grandstanding, Delgado's gesture, to me, comes off more fan friendly and kind hearted.
