Kevin Tillman testified today before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, saying the Pentagon tried to "exploit" the death of his brother, former Arizona Cardinals defensive back Pat Tillman. Kevin Tillman, who gave up his minor league baseball career to join the Army at the same time that Pat Tillman quit the NFL, accused military officials of lying about the circumstances of his brother's death to deflect attention from the Abu Ghraib scandal.
"Pat was and still is a great man. Pat wanted to leave a positive legacy and he did. For the government to hijack his virtue and legacy is horrific."..."With any luck, our family would sink into our grief. But they underestimated our family's reaction."
Pat Tillman was killed in a friendly fire incident in Afghanistan on April 22, 2004.
