Since I
knocked John Clayton down a peg earlier this morning, I should also mention that he has had some insightful comments about what the proposed
Trent Green-to-Miami trade could mean for the NFL draft. I'm not saying all these things
will happen, but each of the following
could hinge on whether Green stays with Kansas City or goes to Miami.
- If Green goes to Miami, the Dolphins would cut Daunte Culpepper, the Raiders could pick him up, and suddenly they no longer want to draft JaMarcus Russell.
- If Russell is still on the board when the Lions pick, Detroit might take him.
- If the Dolphins have Green, one fewer team is interested in Brady Quinn, and those rumors that he could slide get a little more credible.
We could go on like this all day, and I don't want to turn this into Six Degrees of Trent Green. But the point remains: The Green trade will impact more than just the Chiefs and the Dolphins.
