How far is the draft stock of Ohio State Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith falling? NFL analyst Dan Pompei said on this morning's Cold Pizza that from the NFL insiders he's talked to, the Buckeyes quarterback is looking like a sixth-round pick.

Smith was never perceived as a Brady Quinn or JaMarcus Russell-type prospect, but falling all the way to the sixth round would be quite a drop: During the season Smith was usually seen as a second- or third-round selection. But according to Pompei, teams have soured on Smith in the last two months for two reasons.

First, he showed up to the combine out of shape, which makes teams question his dedication. And second, when he has one-on-one meetings with NFL coaches, they come away with the sense that he doesn't have an ideal grasp of how to read defenses.

I still think some team will like Smith enough to take him before the sixth round, but I do think there's a good chance he'll still be available at the end of the day on Saturday.
