Better Know a Steroid Dealer: Kirk J. Radomski

This isn't a recurring series, like KSK's Better Know a Draft Pick, but if cronies with ties to steroid distribution keep getting outed, it might as well be.

Today's out? Kirk J. Radomski (NOT pictured right), a Mets employee from 1985 to 1995, who admitted to distributing HGH, testosterone, and something called deca-durabolin. (Not sure what that last one is, but it sure sounds serious.) Radomski officially plead guilty to one count of distribution (anabolic steroids) and one count of money laundering, according to a search warrant affidavit obtained by the Washington Post and San Jose Mercury News.

According to the report, Radomski distributed the stuff to players "throughout the league" and was considered the league's leading distributor of drugs after the government shut down BALCO in 2003.

Who knows what sort of extra information will come out of this; whether Radomski will rat out some of the players he's been dealing to. Maybe the MLB -- who has a vested interest in keeping specific players' names out of the news -- will send Radomski a nice little reminder that snitches get stitches.

Either way, we do know this: Major League Baseball's steroid problem didn't end when Victor Conte went behind bars. Whether steroids bother you or not, today is yet another reminder that the game we love remains at least somewhat tainted by those operating outside the rules.

Victor Conte Is Back in Business

Update: As commenter Gail notes below, I haven't specifically read anywhere that Radomski was dealing to Mets players. That he was a Mets employee and had seemingly incredible access to performance enhancing drugs might implicate Mets players in a court of public opinion, but it doesn't necessarily mean any of Shea's finest were definitely doping. Just something to keep in mind. Thanks Gail.
