The Miami Dolphins finally get their quarterback, and even though it wasn't Brady Quinn -- if you just got back from Mars, they took Ted Ginn in the first round -- it was one of the guys they were high on. BYU's John Beck was the 40th overall selection, and will hopefully finally solve the team's perennial quarterback problems.
Now we'll just have to see what the Dolphins plan to do for 2007. There's still a good chance they trade a Day 2 pick for Trent Green, who would then be next season's starter. But what about Daunte Culpepper? He recently made it known that he's still recovering from a couple knee surgeries, but plans on a full comeback. Ultimately, however, that'll be head coach Cam Cameron's call.
And Cameron may make a decision in the very near future -- like by releasing Culpepper. I don't know if that's a great move -- but I wasn't crazy about the Ginn pick, either, so what do I know?
Whatever happens, Miami has their return specialist and deep threat, and they also landed their quarterback. It's probably worth noting, though, that Beck is 26 years old. The last quarterback in his mid-20s to get drafted was Chris Weinke. Let's just say he wasn't very good in the NFL ... and we'll just leave it at that.
