Normally, having a guy named Landry in Redskins' burgundy and gold isn't good news. But in the 2007 draft, it is. Landry fills a need of a safety to pair up with Sean Taylor [yeah, that Adam Archuleta thing didn't work out too well]. There are still needs on the defensive line, but Landry's presence in the secondary will help what we already have be just a little better and should let defensive coordinator use Taylor more towards the line of scrimmage.
The Redskins haven't done too well with the draft. Not only have they not drafted well, they deal their picks away for throwaways [TJ Duckett, anyone?] or to overvalue picks. Only 14 players on the current Redskins roster was drafted by the team. There was rumblings that the Skins could take Brady Quinn and deal him back to Miami for the #9 pick and some change [Miami, it seems, is getting exactly what it wants as Quinn is dropping to them anyways] or that there was a deal for Chicago's Lance Briggs in there. Thank god it didn't.
As I said before, sometimes the smaller splashes make the bigger waves. This one does. Yeah, I'd love to have defensive lineman Amobi Okoye in that spot, but Landry works well too. I'm just glad that we didn't do anything stupid .. so far. Now, we Redskin fans can just chill for the rest of the day.
