Waltrip Misses the Show Again

I find myself longing for the days of Michael Waltrip in the #15 DEI Chevrolet running nose to tail on a superspeedway with Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Sigh. Those days are long gone, huh?

One of these days things are going to get better for Waltrip. Not today.

Mikey was kept out of the show at Talladega by his own driver's championship provisional--Dale Jarrett's last one.

So Waltrip sits on the sidelines. Again.

What a damn shame. Talladega is an emotional place for most drivers, but I imagine the Earnhardt birthday factor must take an additional toll on Waltrip.

Jarrett can do MWR a solid by finishing high enough to get himself into the top 35 for next week--he only needs to gain one position.

Does Qualifying Need Fixing?

Waltrip is trying to make some noise with his suggested change in qualifying procedure, where the Top 35 qualifies separately followed by the scrubs who race themselves into the remaining spots.

Sorry, Mikey. It can't all be about you. Focus on the things you can control and the qualifying should take care of itself.

I, for one, look forward to seeing you back on track.
