This will be a theme here: I like the guys Washington picked, but none of them play defensive line ... the biggest weakness on the team.

The Good

Despite all the smack going around that the Redskins could deal the #6 pick in the draft for Chicago's Lance Briggs ... deal back to Miami so the Phins could select Brady Quinn ... trade up to get Calvin Johnson ... the Skins stayed put and drafted what some thought as the best defensive player in the draft, LSU safety LaRon Landry. Adding Landry along with Sean Taylor forms a lethal secondary. An intriguing pick was QB Jordan Palmer, brother of the Bengals' Carson Palmer who the Skins can develop alongside current QB Jason Campbell.

The Bad

And then the wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. The Skins had no picks in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th rounds. With the second pick, the Skins grabbed linebacker Dallas Sartz. Sartz is the overacheiving type who isn't all raw skill. Could be a sleeper, but could be a bust. They also drafted ILB HB Blades, who's name is scarier than his body [5'10, 236]. Oh, and there's this little problem of neglecting the teams' biggest weakness ... D-line.

The Grade: C-

For the limited picks they had, getting Landry was a nice pickup and the other guys are nice. But missing out on the middle rounds just kills the development of your team. Especially since those picks were wasted on guys like TJ Duckett. The Skins got nobody to help on the defensive line, which is a problem.
