The 2008 NFL draft is right around the corner, and I know you wouldn't be able to wait until May of 2007 to start thinking about it. So let's talk about some of the top prospects. The Dallas Morning News has the best draft coverage of any newspaper in America (there's not a close second), and they've come up with their very early list of top prospects. In addition, Todd McShay of ESPN said on today's SportsCenter that Louisville quarterback Brian Brohm (pictured) is his No. 1 prospect for next year, with Michigan left tackle Jake Long, USC left tackle Sam Baker, LSU receiver Early Doucet and LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey following closely behind.
My really early pick is Baker. If he had entered this year's draft, I don't think there's any way he would have fallen further than No. 5, where the Cardinals picked Levi Brown. With another year under his belt, he could go all the way up to No. 1. Unless his dad convinces him to play Arena Football.
