Over the weekend I noted the report that Dodger pitcher Jason Schmidt could be out for months. Now, thanks to Sons of Steve Garvey for pointing to me towards Ben Maller, who reports even worse news about Jason Schmidt:The Dodgers are worried that Jason Schmidt might not pitch again this season, according to a major league source. Schmidt, who signed a three-year contract for $47 million, has a bad shoulder and could be shutdown for surgery soon. Schmidt is 1-2 with a 7.36era this season in three starts.Wow, talk about a terrible turn of events. It was a mystery as to how Schmidt even got hurt, and what has led to his decrease in pitch velocity. And now a report that he could be out for the year? Man, this whole situation is fishy. Sounds like all you fantasy baseball players can drop Schmidt from your roster, and also like those who picked the Dodgers as a World Series team are in bad shape.
