Nuggets Come Up Short Yet Again

Robert Horry once again squashed some hearts last night. As you can see, Big Shot Rob, the playoff dagger man came out to play and put away those Denver Nuggets to take a 3-1 lead, pretty much making it ~~impossible~~ very difficult for the Nuggs to win this first round series. Good thing we called it, money!

Denver had a good lead at one point in the 4th, but just couldn't hold on, Melo is stunned:

"I'm in shock," Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony said. "Everybody in the locker room is going to be down. ... Everybody has got to put this game behind us."

Rob plays coy/surprised:

"I get amazed when I get those shots. I'm even more amazed when they go in," Horry said.

Iverson is giving up:

"If we don't think we can do it, we shouldn't even be going to San Antonio," Nuggets guard Allen Iverson said. "We should just stay here. ... We know it will be extremely tough, though, to do it."

And Nuggets faithfuls are just plain embarrassed:

Now it looks like the Nuggets will be stepping out of the first round again and what is most embarrassing is how it could be in one-hit wonder style again for the fourth time in as many years.

For what it's worth, I don't knock AI for saying what he feels is the inevitable truth. Denver just doesn't have enough weapons to compete at the end of the day. I for one can't wait for Year 2 of AI/Melo explosion, now that they had half a season's worth of games and one playoff series together.
