Baron Davis Is Channeling Willis Reed

It's halftime of Game 6 of the Mavs/Warriors series. The big story so far is the play of Baron Davis. The Baron tweaked his left hamstring with about 5 minutes to go in the opening quarter and went to the locker room to get treatment on the injured leg. When he returned to the game in the second quarter, he was scoreless, and could hardly move out there. He looked terrible.

But suddenly, all hell broke loose. He scored 11 straight points for his team - using a variety of rainbow jumpers from inside and outside the three point arc - to give the Warriors a 50-48 lead over Dallas going into the second half. The most spectacular of the Davis baskets was an impossible, fallaway three pointer with about 3 seconds remaining in the second quarter after absorbing some heavy contact from Dirk Nowitzki (who, it should be noted, is playing like crap so far in this game.)

As my colleague Nate Jones pointed out in our 'Haus email thread, Baron cannot afford to come out of the game because there's a good chance that his hammy will tighten up if he doesn't keep it loose by running around. Should Davis cool off in the second half, I just wanted to give his heroic first half performance the respect it deserves.
