NCAA 3-Point Shooting Line on the Move

At least hopefully. It looks like it may finally happen after a few years of discussion and plenty of complaints. The NCAA Men's Basketball Rules Committee approved a measure to move the 3-point line from 19' 9" to 20' 9". The decision still has to be approved by the playing rules oversight committee when they meet on May 25. If approved, it would go into effect for the 2008-09 season.

The Rules Committee debated moving it to the international distance of 20' 6" but in the end, decided it would be more fun to have their own line rather than have more uniformity.

Just to keep things really cluttered, though, the women's basketball 3-point line will remain at the present distance of 19'9". Should make college basketball courts look that much better with arcs around the basket.
